Hansl und Gretl
For 2010 Film Fest, comedian Doug Powell joined the festival to host Friday Night alongside Mikael Johnson’s Saturday. After shooting one day of promos, ideas grew into another ambitious project. With a story that would unfold throughout the two nights much like 2009′s The Giving or 2007′s Lance and Javier, we set out to make a short that would climax in an ambitious musical to be shot all over Downtown Frederick. An unrelated injury and scheduling issues took center stage so things were pared down slowly until in the end we only had a few hours on a Saturday to get everything for both nights. We then scrapped the larger story, and focused on the ribbing of two fairy tales: Red Riding Hood and Hansl and Gretl.
We hope to re-examine the story that could have been although 2011′s criteria will require something completely different.
