Registration for 72 FIlm Fest is now open. Head over now to secure your spot and take advantage of the Early Bird Discount.

The 72 Film Fest is a unique film festival in which all the films that are featured were made the weekend before. The filmmakers are given only 72 hours to write, direct and edit their short film. The individual criteria will be arbitrarily selected by a team member on Thursday night (Oct 4) and teams will have until Sunday night (Oct 7) to turn in their entries.

All the films will then be screened at the Festival which is Saturday, October 13. The festival is being held at the historic Weinberg Center in downtown Frederick, MD.

Heads or Tails DVD + 72 Film Fest News.

Although it's been a bit quiet on the website, this summer we have been working hard at getting our Heads or Tails DVD finalized. Our Final Cut is roughly 20 minutes shorter than the cut we screened at the Weinberg Center. It's not just shorter- it's a drastically different cut. Those that have seen it feel it's an entirely different movie. We have assembled around 30 minutes of deleted scenes (Some seen in our Weinberg cut, others never before seen).

The DVD menus have been built (Mike Yamrus over at Big Wave Media has done an excellent job). All that is left to do now is to plug in commentaries. We will have some future screening news to announce very soon as well as details on how to get the Heads or Tails DVD for yourself.

We also expect to have Heads or Tails Soundtrack on ITunes in the coming weeks. We'll link to it from here.

And for those fellow filmmakers out there- We have also begun planning on this years 72 Film Fest. We will be doing the 72 Hour contest again this year. It will take place October 4th-7th with the entries screening the following Saturday the 13th at Weinberg Center. www.72fest.com will be updated as soon as we have more info.

Heads or Tails DVD

We've finalized the deleted scenes on the upcoming DVD and have managed to squeeze together almost 20 minutes of excised content including alternate versions and deleted scenes (some never before seen like the infamous Kevin Collins Fruit Vendor scene).

We are still on track to release the DVD this Summer. Our final step is getting the cast/crew commentaries.

TV Show News - Coming soon.

We've been in a holding pattern for the television show until we could get a full shooting schedule and more locations nailed down. There will be some news in the next couple of weeks.

Folding @ Home

We've set up a team on Folding @ Home. For those that don't know what this is:

-----------

What is protein folding and how is folding linked to disease? Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, in many ways remains a mystery.

Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes.

You can help by simply running a piece of software. Folding@Home is a distributed computing project -- people from through out the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer makes the project closer to our goals.

Folding@Home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems thousands to millions of times more challenging than previously achieved.

-----------

Basically your computer does research while it's idle. If you leave your computer on a lot, the least you can do is allow the electricity you are sucking to do something good. It won't interfere when you are actually using your computer. It works on just about every computer.
